Alternating Chemical and Organic fertilizers...?
I am a fan of both. Not many info around about using both as it either the one or the other.
Both have their respective advantages (and disadvantages for that matter).
Is it good, bad or both to use both? At certain times of the year we need different NPK ratios to get the maximum growth from our plants.
What I also have been wondering about is..... Does Chemical ferts hinder/damage an Organic 'eco' system? What i'm trying to say is will it 'burn' the bacteria and fungi and disrupt the whole process...???

Re: Alternating Chemical and Organic fertilizers...?
I've never seen any published evidence that says using chemical fertilizers has a negative impact on soil health. I use mainly chemical stuff (miracle gro, peters, dyna-gro) and some of my pines have incredible amounts of myco in the root systems.

I ascribe to a "balanced diet" approach, meaning the more types of fertilizer, the better. All of my plants get both organic and chemical fertilizers, with those in development getting more chemical and those in refinement getting more organic. And the only problem I've ever had from fertilizing is slugs that love the organic pellets.

Thank You. That is just what I wanted to hear....

Re: Alternating Chemical and Organic fertilizers...?
I use inorganic fertilizers only with my inorganic substrates. Vast amounts. No bugs no slugs. And my trees couldn't be happier. Look up Walter Pall's article on watering and fertilizing. Keep it simple.

I actually mix miracle grow and fish emulsion in the same watering can.

MY answer is a shrug. Your trees don't care.
However, to those who use inorganic fertilizer with an inorganic soil -- organic fertilizers ADsorb to the inorganic materials in your soil. Inorganic fertilizers pass right through.
But as to the various nutrients being supplied . . . shrug.

I agree with you Jim, we just learned in class that they really don't care. Did not know this about the property of inorganic soils though, thanks for the information sir.

Interesting, I caught some of this over on AUSbonsai.
One response spoke of the damage done to the lifeforms in the soil, from the inorganic fertilisers, and health to the trees.
But no one responded to the post.
Where is Paul, the soil scientist, and what does he have to say ?
Inorganic, but porous growing mediums can hold some of the fertiliser in solution, in their structure.
Hope Paul sees this and says something.
Later.

Don't think anyone said they wouldn't.
