Hello,

This is one of my "babies"  :D . I have collected this ficus boni about two years and started to trainning it into a pot, since them i have made some drastic prunning and some small prunning, the style if thing is mastered by neagari (and so i am doing a patient job to clean and refine its aerial roots). I need serious help to choose the best front possible... it was reduced in height about a third of its original size. i let many branches grown in same place to futher pic the best ones...according to the front... sorry the poor english.

the base is about 11 inches wide, beginning trunk 6 inches diameter, total height 25 inches.

Any other tips or suggestions are wellcome :D  :D  :D

have a nice day!

Pedro.

Hello Pedro

I do like your tree. I dont know what kind of ficus this is as I dont understand boni. Is this Ficus nitida or Ficus benjamina?

I think your tree has many fronts, and each one can reflect a different mood. But if I have to I will choose nr4 as the front. For one can see the apex branches aswell.

Your nebari is very well developed and can improve over time. Nr1 and Nr6 has the best view of the nebari. Nr4 nebari is not as good and need to be developed.

Keep up the good work and have a great week.

I had missed this post before- thanks to Andre for 'reviving' it. And I agree, it has many fronts. Or maybe it is not limited by having a front. If displayed where all views are possible, viewers can decide for themselves.

Hi Pedro

I feel like doing this
choosing a front - ficus bonsai - yamadori Dsc05311
Cut off the upper part, and turn the tree, as the roots and movement are prettier from this side
choosing a front - ficus bonsai - yamadori Dsc05312
But it is not just done, the trunk will have to shoot back, and a lot of work has to be done in the future.

This is the more safe cut

Kind regards Yvonne

I think its almost impossible to choose a front from this, all is very similar. It depens on your taste where the nebari looks nicest. I think i wouldgo for 7. That said, i think better not to think which is good front now, have it grow, develop the branches and try to make a nice tree from all sides. Perhaps in 1 year it will be already more clear which front you want

Hi Andre,

Thank you for your opinion, if think my tree is a ficus benjamina, nr7, nr1 and nr4 are my favourites at this moment, but i am still thinking... the apex is the part that i have to clear a bit to see what is in side.
the nebari has some ugly scars that i have to develop better with more time.

Thanks again,

Pedro.

Hello Yvonne,

Thanks a lot for showing me your different view or views i say... You have some pretty good ideas, i liked the second image where you cut the nr7 view, that still my favourite because it is personaly pleasant and calm. and the trunk gets thinner faster.

have a nice week,

Kind regards Pedro.

Thanks for your opinion,

Regards Pedro.
