When can I cut back my azalea?
Hi!
New to the forum and new to the hobby. I just bought a dwarfazalea and will try to create a bonsai of it. I live in southern Sweden and it's autumn here. Can I cut back/prune my azalea or should I wait till next summer to do this?

Wait, growing season is almost over. It can barely respond then has to endure frost. Doesn't give you the strongest new growth.

The best time to cut azaleas back is just after they have started to grow in the spring, but you will lose any potential flowers. However, you get more growth by cutting back at this time. If you want to see the flowers, it is fine to cut back immediately after flowering, but you'll obviously get less growth.
