pa-pa-pa-paPYrus !!!

Post  kevin stoeveken on Thu Sep 11, 2014 12:00 am

being from wisconsin, though having traveled quite a bit, i had never seen papyrus before, and i only knew of it as being used to make paper by the ancient egyptians, which in itself is pretty rad and a big step forward for humans...

now, papyrus may be common as muck to alot of you,
but i was pretty stoked to stumble across it at a little nursery down the block...

got it in a 1 gallon pot (4-5 liters about i think maybe not sure) and it was maybe 12" tall (not sure how many centimeters, but pretty many, but not too much) and stuck it straight in the ground, full sun all day...

and within a couplafew (2-3) months it got to be a pretty nice landscape plant...

big heads with beautiful stamens (? if thats what they are called)

if anyone out there can tell me how to make some paper outta this, i would be super appreciative...

i'd then use it to make my scroll i've been planning...
i have this vision of a little man in the bow of a canoe...

It won't survive the winter outside in your area,
but here's how to make paper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCR8n7qS43w
