Happy Autumn:
Love this time of year! Here's a photo I took this morning of my one and only maple, she is about 7" tall.

Nice tree, but the very bright pot steals your eye. I'd find a more muted color, if I were you.

I like your tree. Especially the bark.

The pot color is not so bad. I am sure its a nice combination in the spring as new light green/red leaves are emerging.

I wonder if a wider, more shallow pot may be nice also? Something half the depth but a third or so wider.

Hi Stephen,
I like Your Trident very much. Did You grow it over this rock and what is its age?

Ken:
This little tree is a Japanese import. I suspect it was a cutting that was placed on the rock very early in its 20+ years of life. Thanks for your comments.

Neil:
I personally like the pot. Jim is right though about the pot being bright now, especially with its fall color. It was less bright in early spring through summer. I love this pot and waited a long time to find a tree that it would work with the tree. Might not be perfect, but it works for me (for now). I apologize for not giving you an idea as to the pot size. The depth is only 1 1/2 inches, the trees' root mass can handle anything smaller right now, but will see how this works over the next few years.

Jim:
Thanks Jim for your feedback. As I said above, the foliage color is making the pot seem very bright, but most of the year it was less bright. I'll give the pot/tree combination a couple of years before I decide on a change. In any event I 'm enjoying this little tree (especially after trying to move some of my larger trees!).

Stephen,
One great attribute of this little tree is that you touched on briefly is that the actual roots are clasping the rock, as opposed to the often seen "quick" method of wrapping seedlings around stones. Big difference.

No wire marks on the roots also makes this a nice little tree.
