Here is the post show report...
Attached is one page of the lists of Hyousou artists at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. This was the 57th annual Hyousou Exhibition. It was held on the second floor in the 4th Exhibit hall. I am late to post as the exhibition went from the 21st to the 26th of June in 2014. I still have a long way to go and much to learn, but I enjoy each day working as I do. Hyousou is the art for framing into items such as Kakejiku, (hanging Scrolls), byoubu (Screens), Fusuma (sliding doors) and other methods to display art.

I am listed at 109 in the booklet. First is listed the type of product (Hanging Scroll) Next is listed Mariusz Szmerdt the artist, Then the Paintings Title (Oomukashi Natsu no Ukai) and then is listed my name, Jonathan Maples. (no contact information was provided)

I'm particularly glad when folks take us along on their journey. So even if it's a little after the fact, still is important to be included.
Congrats on your continued advancement and keep up the good work....Smile

Ukai of Long Ago Summer.

Ukai is the ancient form of fishing with comorants. This is still done as a cultural heritage in Gifu city where I lived along the Nagara River. The painting reminded me how the Nagara river would look long ago with the castle on Mt. Kinkazan in the distance...

Congratulations!

May I ask why does it take so much for a scroll to be framed?

If made by machine it does not take that long...could be made in a day. But you are using chemical based glues and it is not archival quality.

If making by hand and using starch based glues, I can do in a couple of weeks, but the long term quality is not as good. It hangs best when the paper and cloth feel different seasons and temperatures when curing...

beautiful... we now have cormorants here in milwaukee on lake michigan (one of the great lakes chain in n. america) and when ever i see them, i think of the practice of fishing with them...

i was afraid that the title might be something along the lines of "mame man in canoe" which i have "dibs" on, and have been working on, but i need to channel my limited painting skills into an acceptable representation of what i see on the "eye-lid bijou" (aka the theater of the mind  Wink )
