Moore stone
Moore stone was found in Hong Shui He river since few years ago, it is new kind of suiseki. It is said that the name of this stone came from the famous Britain master of sculpture Henry Spencer Moore(1898-1986), I think maybe because that the shape of stone is similar to the works produced by master Henry Spencer Moore. Before that, it is called “mo dao shi”(sharpen knife stone) due to its softer quality, the stone is usually used to sharpen a knife by local people.

Thanks, again, Riversoul!

Your photos and descriptions are a very generous contribution to the IBC Stone Forum, and a tribute to Guangxi as a major source of extraordinary stones.

Can you share photos of collecting areas or of amateur or professional collectors in the act of collecting?  Visually linking the collecting area to a stone enriches our appreciation of it. Visually linking your regions' collectors to IBC collectors brings us closer in friendship & sharing... :-)))

Respectfully, I hope I don't request too much.

I've certainly been enjoying this thread and the tremendous diversity of the stones available. Unlike chris, I have no idea about this region, so I did a little background to help myself get up to speed on the region.

For those maybe in the same boat as myself, here's some info that may help. It's location is in southern china along the boarder of vietnam. I enjoyed this u-tube video. It akes less than half an hr to watch and gives you an idea of what the terrain and people are like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlwnAUyg4Us
