HELP! - Unknown Rooted Cutting
Hi all,
I've been experimenting with a homemade bubble propagator : http://localbonsai.com/update-preparations-for-a-bonsai-aeroponic-propagator-2/
Until now, all of my greenwood cuttings have failed (acer, abies, malus, betula, etc) except for this mystery cutting ! I don't even remember taking it. Can anyone help me identify this guy ?!?
I believe it's from a common landscape shrub or tree. The leaves are compound pinnate, ovular with indentations along the sides, and smaller than a penny. See links to pictures below.
Hopefully this is enough information. Thanks for your help.
Regards,
-Kirk

It is not compound at all. Those are individual leaves. My guess is Euonymus fortunei. Don't know if it is suitable for bonsai.

Re: HELP! - Unknown Rooted Cutting
Ken and Iris, thanks for your responses; I believe this is a euonymus. What was tricking me up was the fact that the new leaves on the cutting do not have the variegated color of the parent plant.

They often don't. The variegation is a sport and frequently/usually reverts to type.

The variegation may develop when the material is older & more substantial.
