I think it needs a trunk chop above the bend, for movement and taper.

Thnks for your idea!
I think that this tree with character of trunk belong to Slanting and Literaty type, cutting trunks to taper is not feasibility.

Whats the nebari like, a convincing slanting tree thats moving right, really needs a strong anchor root going left, this gives the tree visual stability. not written in stone, but just looks better. you dont always see this in nature though, there are variations we can't always see whats going on under the roots.

This one is similar to yours, but you can see that the base looks stronger on the opposite side of the lean.

I agree, the trunk sooo important and taper very necessary for the illusion of size. These are great representative pictures!

Thnks You very much for great - natural pictures. It's very very nice!
Have at your ideas: the diameter of the branch level 1 (branch is nearest from the trunk) is not enough big when comparing to the diameter of the trunk?
I thinks that, because of we only can change the diameter of  the branch level 1 than trunk, so year after year, the tree more taper.

Yes, it will take a long time before that first branch affects the base of the trunk. may get quicker results planting in the ground. but if youre happy with it thats fine too. Cool
