Questionable???? Empty Questionable????

This isn't shaped like anything (other than a oblong egg) and has nothing to remind you of, but I though the quartz strata thru the middle of it was attractive. It does have favorable tactile aspects to it.

I have no idea whether I'd ever want to make a stand for it.

Thoughts? There will be no hurt feelings. It's only a rock and I didn't make it!

Hi Jim

If you like the stone and want it in your house, is it a good idea to make, or maybe even better to have a elegant daiza made for the stone...there are more carvers in USA...I can give you some names if interested.

If you turn the stone arround, will it become doha-ish, and more interesting.

Kind regards Yvonne

Hi Jim... If the white inclusion only occurs on the front of the stone, you also have a very credible waterfall stone with churning water occurring at the stone's upper (narrower) end before the smoother vein of scenic, free-falling water.

Gotta Go with Chris's suggestion....Smile

Yvonne, curious as who you would name as great daiza makers in the USA?

Thanks all, but I'm not sure the waterfall image reaches me because of the stone's shape.

You are right Vlado, but Jim see something in the stone...to me is any beginning better than no beginning, as it with time can give room for a better understanding of the suiseki.

Kind regards Yvonne

Well, Jim doesn't necessarily see much there. He was just wondering if anyone else did. I believe I said as much in the first post. I'm perfectly willing to toss it back in the creek.

I have several other half-way decent suiseki.

I have a pile of rocks to the entrance to my japanese garden that needs to make it back to the river. Like my bonsai and Koi, the selection process gets better as we work on it. Fortunately these two other hobbies don't end up creating piles...LOL. If I've learned anything in the decades of my japanese hobbies, there is nothing that's perfect, just efforts to get as close as possible. I've been out on two river forays this year so far, and brought a total of nothing back.SmileQuestionable???? P1140210

This is a picture of my latest find and daiza to display it. Uncut (stone), the dai is deeper than I'd like. But I tried to stay true to the stone and not cut it.
It reminds me of looking down from a higher mountain top and seeing the clouds swirling around the top of a lower range. The river I found this stone in last year is being revisited next week. water's down and new channels cut from winter. The anticipation is great!

Don't give up Jim Smile

Reading your title does your reply make sense....but my reply was based on a another topic of yours, were the stone is exhibited in the house among other little things you like

Hi Jim,

Just do what your hearts desire, many people in this forum are very encouraging to push us to deeper stone appreciation, although some might not agree with you,but let the stone and you speaks for them-self.it's more pure,no human intervention, just interpretation, appreciation and others perspective too.
Like Dick, i like koi and bonsai too ( Hello brother ):-). They never seems to part from each other...
Hope to see more stones from you posting in this forum
