Serissa airlayer? Empty Serissa airlayer?

Post  MikeG Tue May 27, 2014 12:21 pm

Hi all
Just curious if anyone has any advice on air layering Serissa? I can't find any examples while searching. Tree I have has an interesting base but is way too tall. Im going to end up cutting it back anyway, but if theres a chance I can get a second tree from the top, its worth a try.

Serissa root easily from cuttings, so there should be no problem with air layering.

How thick is the trunk? I have rooted 1/4 to 3/8 inch cuttings. I just snipped it and used a little rooting hormone. It takes about three to four weeks.

Its about 3/4 of an inch where Id like to shorten it too. But a bit higher up its around 1/2 inch. Think thats too big for a cutting? A lot less hassle then air layering.
Thanks,
Mike
