Scots pine design, ideas?

Post  john blanchard on Sat May 10, 2014 7:03 pm

Hi people, I've had this Scots pine for a long time now, just wondering if anyone can come up with design ideas. Virtuals would be great.  bounce    thumbs up

You could cram everything I know about pines into the dot over an "i" but it seems to me that you should be trying to work a little "bulk" (for lack of a better word) into the needles. Fat trunk, but the needles seem much too wispy and airy.

Jim is right. This pine is not getting enough direct sunlight. It should be in the sunniest position possible, no shade. Don't attempt any styling until you get it growing healthily for a few years!

I don't even own a single pine, but that one looks like it needs more sun. The foliage is pretty sparse. Stick it out in full sun and fertilize it well. Maybe in a couple years you'll have more to work with.
