Hi IBC!

This tree gave me headache every time I look at it for the past years. It is not giving it self to me.. I tried almost every thing trying to design it.
Today I took the courage of doing something that I never thought of doing before,, then it gave up and showed its true character to me.

My own style of doing things... Cut the top side of the branch and provide deeper cut using sharp nail.

Cont...

the cut will be dealt with in the future... Beneath the cut area is a separate root system supplying the living portion of the tree. It got 3 root areas all were saved to increase the early chance of recovery.

Why not, I'd say Jun!
The result justifies you, my courageous friend!
How did you treat the cut area? Cutting paste etc....
However, I think that you have had the knowledge that this species is easy doing with its roots, or not?

Thanks Alexandra.

For the cut wound, Just clear glue.

At this condition of the tree where the roots are almost pot bound the tree will easily take the separation, Almost 90% of the roots were saved at this side of the tree. Both trees will survive.

See the abused experience by my windswept casuarinas, it is well thriving up to now. that tree lost more than 75% of its roots due to the "öil spill". Wink

HI Jun,

Thats another piece of work Bro and its really nice, the way you just separate that tree into two with each independent good looking tree now, you really great dudz. i just wonder again, the process you just made to that tree, the wrapping of cellophane/plastic in the branch, what exactly are the purpose of that and what are you intend to do in the wrapped branch of that tree? well you know, being a novice, i want learn more, specially info coming from my mentor..

Thanks
Ferdz

Hi Ferdie.

Thanks man!

The plastic wrap, same as the one commonly used in kitchen use, helps in keeping the thick branches from breaking. same purpose of the rafia, but thick plastic is more elastic but tougher and cheaper too.plus we don't have rafia here, I have tried using abaca, and I found this material easier to use. Weird stuffs only in my garden. alien

Not only in yours!
Also in mine and in my bonsai-teacher's, too!
We have a very suitable greek saying for such kind of situations (and not only these, of course....) which goes :
"Poverty works out skills",
which of course in English language is quite inferior in true sense than being expressed in Greek. Although you can get the meaning! Very Happy

Hi IBC!

This is the other part of the tree today.
Casuarina separated Dsc_0176

One of the ugliest material...but I got to find some use for it so I started the initial work today after it got separated.
Finding the right angle...
Casuarina separated Dsc_0177

After the first styling...kinda landscape abstract I think.

Good job Jun!

You improved the tree several folds and the other part is now a very unique bonsai and has a making of a great one...might even be better than the "mother" plant if you spend enough time on it Wink

Thanks!
Casuarina is very good even from seedlings my LLB. continue your quest. they grow very fast specially at young age. you'll have 2 inches diameter trunk from a seedling in a year. and from yamadori an inch thick or more, diameter branch in a year if not wired.
