Need help with growing, in a Chinese marble/jade stone pot
I have an opportunity to acquire a large carved stone Chinese planter, approx 18" long by 14" wide by 13" deep. The planter looks like it is white marble, but the owner calls it jade. I have heard that many types of stones are referred to as "jade". Anyway, the container currently has goldfish in it, so I suspect that it does not have drainage. Has anyone ever used such pots for their bonsai? I've seen many photos of trees in stone pots and presume the deep pots have drainage holes. I know trays are often made without drain holes. Should I drill holes in it, or just use it for show? I don't think it is an antique, but I suppose it could be. If anyone has comments, suggestions, experience, or other ideas, please share about them. Thank you so much!
