How do sellers place a price tag on a bonsai ?
What makes a bonsai worth 10 $ or 1000$ ?

One, you have to know your market and what is being paid. Price can be determined by age, style, how well it is trained, rarity, beauty, and most important...how much will the buyer pay. I've sold $40 trees for $300 because someone thought it was worth it. I've also seen trees worth thousands go for hundreds at auctions because no one wanted to pay thousands.

Plus, add you own work effort to the price at whatever you think you're worth per hour's work, plus artistic flair. This last is pretty subjective, and probably open for negotiation. Then add how badly you'd prefer to keep or get rid of the tree.

I guess one can do some comparisons in the market, and pick a price from one's research, based on one's own country.

Here is one case where one guy was willing to pay about US $60k, but logistics prevented it ... maybe this tree would fetch less in other countries, or more.

On our side, one guy expected to be paid $ 7.00 US per month for simply watering his efforts.
Not sure if that ever worked.
Later.

Sounds inexpensive to me. Not knowing how to water will kill trees faster than anything. I've paid someone who knows what they are doing $100 to live at my house for a week and water my trees and take care of my pets.
