A few new stones and stands
Hi there everyone,
I've decided to finally take the plunge by uploading a few photos of the first few stands that i've carved over the last few months to get some feedback on my work thus far.
Please tell me what you think.

Re: A few new stones and stands
Glad you decided to share. Your work looks pretty good and I'm sure it will evolve forward as you progress. If I had to make a suggestion from where I'm admiring your work, there are a couple whose daizas are a bit thin depth wise, that to my eye, don't have enough critical mass to seem to support the stone they feature. The third picture would be the best example. Maybe the photo angle has something to do with it. I do like the way your daizas follow the contour of the stone and don't detract with fancy coloration away from the stone. Back to #3 again. I could see that displayed in a suiban as well as it looks like a stone eroded away by the action of the sea. A nice light brown sand and light blue dish may set the stage to better "picture" this stone in nature.

Hi Damien
Always nice to see people carve their own daizas
First stone
I think the daiza should be smaller...and the legs begin rigth under the stone
stone nr. 2
Nice design, I would have liked to see it a bit bigger...but it is OK as is
stone nr. 3, very nice design, but too small.
stone 4.
The direction should be the same all ower, and the leg rigt under the stone.
kind regards Yvonne

It has been a while sinse you asked the question, and I would like to know what you think of the responces you had, are they of any use for you?
Kind regards Yvonne

Hi there Yvone,
Sorry for the slow reply, things have been rather busy here.
I've taken on board what you and others have said to me on the scale of my stands in relation to the stones and am planning to carve one in the next month or so for a stone i've had for sometime, unfortunately i can't rework the ones i've already done as none of the stones were mine and most were either commission jobs and a few sold not too long after i carved the stands for them haha.
I'll keep on working at it and trying to improve

Hi Damian
Thanks for your reply...I wonder if the last stone is a Setagawa from Japan...or do you find theese stones in your country?
Kind regards Yvonne

Hi Yvonne,
I'm afraid i'm not too sure on the origin of that stone, as it belongs to a friend of mine.
All i can say is that it was extremely heavy and that the spotting all over it seemed to go slightly beyond the surface of the stone
Warm regards,
Damien
