Forgive me. I don't know where to post this, but it is so fascinating that I had to share it.
Its a bit long but worth the while I think....

Plant Neurobiology Empty Plant Neurobiology

Somebody was peddling this garbage about 20 years ago. There are some one-celled animals with chlorophyll and that's as far as it goes. Plants are not animals. Trees do not think and monkeys do not perform photosynthesis. End of discussion. There is a great deal of pseudoscience out there, but we don't have to swallow it.

So plants in a drought produce more tannin & kill antelopes. That has nothing to do with intelligence. Having more genes has nothing to do with intelligence. Carnivorous plants are highly evolved, but they are not conscious. It's all pseudoscience.

The term 'plant neurobiology' is a misnomer in that plants have no neural tissue to begin with. However, there is interesting research on plant signalling and communication mechanisms. For example, it can be demonstrated experimentally that some plants, when damaged by pests, will release chemical substances (into the atmosphere or through mycorrhyzal networks) that signal nearby plants to produce protective substances. This is certainly not evidence of plant 'consciousness' but the extent and sophistication of interaction within the plant kingdom is fascinating.

Iris. For the plant kingdom to evolve the way it does, is pure intelligence to me. Definitely on a different level but intelligence non the less. I don't think this is garbage and science is busy proving it as we speak. One will not perceive it while looking at a plant through human eyes. One has to get with it and think like a plant   Wink   No pseudo in the dancing plant. It really knows the moves   bounce

I've planted some African Acacias this year. Some for bonsai and some for in the ground. Acacia closes their leaves at night. When I potted them up I removed half the tap root from the ones destined to be bonsai, but not the ones that are going into the ground. Now the ones without the tap root closes their leaves long before the others. They also open their leaves way later in the morning than the others. Will be interesting to see how long this continues as they grow...

I think it is all important, it all matters; whether we are scientific, or spiritual... or both. Humans have been around a lot longer than "science". Indigenous cultures around the world hold the belief that "we are all related", plants and animals. Just because something cannot be "explained" or "measured", doesn't make it any less relative. study
