Of the local hard woods walnut is certainly one of my favorites. Below are a few stands made from walnut. The first is new and the second is the same as the cherry stand I posted previously. Enjoy Hank

I like the simple designs, especially with the legs turning outward. I could see the first pictured table with it's warm rich reddish tone used with a similar colored pot graced by a chinese juniper. The second table seems too light and would provide too much contrast with a pot and tree, like to see it colored darker. especially since it's stature is so close to the ground.

Wish I could discribe this better but here goes.....with the top of the first table, just a bit of class could be added by making the corners angled like a picture frame with the center piece then centered within the frame. There are times when it would be nice to have just a touch of refinement within it's simplicity.

love your work, thanks for posting...

We have tried  an number of finiishs and have more or less settled on Tung OIl (Watco).  Lacquer finishes are difficult to repair when scratched which is why we use an oil finish in spite of the fact that they require more work.  Tung oil is a bit more water resistant than teak oil.  A minimum of three coats is necessary in our opinion. Buffing after each application is necessary.

As a user, lately I try to put little felt or rubber pads on the feet of my pots. I have so many stands that need refinishing.  Sad

For the most part, I agree with you Iris. I go thru quite the number of 3/8 th's (10 mm) inch felt pads under everything I place on my
custom tables that I had built. I did buy a used one,and while it's not defaced, it does look worn...but ya know, with certain trees
that have an olde worn look to them, they seem to go well together. ( just like peas and carrots) Smile
