Pets - let's see yours

Post  JimLewis on Sat Dec 07, 2013 1:24 pm

Marcus' post about his new little pup here reminded me of perhaps THE most popular thread on the OLD IBC -- "Pets - Show us Yours."

Maybe it's time . . .

I'll start:

Remy Martin, now gone, but my all-time favorite pet:

It took two to replace her:

Bebe (a Lukin sport terrier):

and Conner (a Chiaweenie):

Cute dogs Jim but prefer the bigger breeds. This is the latest addition to my pack, 7wk old Idris (Bull Arab).

Bonding with her 9yr old big sis Rei (Great dane) during a thunderstorm...

And snuggled up with her 10yr old big bro Gus (Wolfhound x Mastiff)..

The new addition doesn't replace the rescue boy I had to have pts midyear, still miss the big galoot, Hugo (Great Dane).

Apologies for my ugly mug in that pic but it is the last photo from before he left this world & reminds me how far he came in the few short years he was with me. How anyone could abuse them is beyond me & this boy showed how deeply they feel it.

Here's my current fella.  A big softie, not overly bright and scared of his own shadow sometimes, but a loveable big lump anyway. Oh wait - maybe that's Himindoors I'm describing.

Me, too. I miss her every day, but we had her 13 years, which is a very LONG time for a Frenchie.

Our Border and black cat, this kitty passed on two years ago Sad

Our little Chi-chi who passed on a year and a half ago; she was my companion at the bonsai benches... she would walk with me when I watered the trees and surveyed the yard.

My faithful mountain companion and fantastic guard dog! Poppy is as soft as a brush with the grandchildren but prone to eating anyone in a hi-vis vest. I suspect that the bin-men teased her once too often when she was a pup.

Rainbow Bridge

Post  DougB on Wed Dec 11, 2013 3:28 pm

I note that many of the family members above have moved on. I have been fortunate to have had many, many dogs and cats as members of my family and the memories as well as the pain of their leaving are still very strong. If you are not aware, there is a poem that helps me to look forward with great expectation at reuniting with them. Here is a link for the Rainbow Bridge.

This is my house panther, she is called Kali

She will listen to what I say and then do whatever she likes. She is a dedicated hunter, no mercy for enemy spiders.

Thanks for that. I think the reason I always have 3 or 4 dogs is that Its so hard when they leave.

Here's my favorite poem about a dog.... Grab a tissue.

The beagle.

And Soccer Dog.  We don't have Monroe any more.  We were raising him for the Guiding Eyes for the Blind program.
