Bougainvillea in progress

Building this tree was not easy. This is my first and only Bougainvillea so far. The challenge was to keep up with the rapid growth, buiding all branches and subbranches and then finally the top. I worked the tree from the bottom up. Growing all areas simultanously does not work for me. I am now finishing the apex area. Onec that's done it's going in its final container. Probably a light turquoise color.

Also, I water and feed my bougie the same as any other tree. Lots of! No holding back water to get flowers. The tree is shooting blooms everywhere.

Thanks guys! I forgot to mention, the only wire I used was to set the primary branches. Everything else went clip and grow.

Wow Dorothy,
What started as a gnarly looking trunk turned into such an elegant, perfectly grown tree.
Love the natural deadwood touch and the blooms are plentiful

Good work Dorothy, i see plenty of these (bougs) here in Australia, most (not all) of them grow out single shoots and call them a branch. Then prune to shape. Not many are prepared to put in the effort to achieve what you have achieved with this one.

Thanks. Yes, I did. Shearing tropical in the initial phase does wonders, if they are healthy.
