Formal Upright Larch Progression

Post  Twisted Trees on Thu Oct 10, 2013 11:26 pm

This is a collected American Larch approx. 24" tall.

2009 In a nursery pot.

2010  The transformation was achieved by trimming the sacrificial branch and tying the branches down to the edge of the nursery pot with twine.

2011  Planted into a mica pot.

2012

2013  Planted into a Japanese ceramic pot and the crown reduced.

I like the tree and pot combo; especially the color of the pot.

I have plenty of dramatic trees. A good formal upright Larch with a thick trunk and rough bark is harder to come by. A formal upright is supposed to be quite and dignified.

Don't go for dramatic look, jinning the top takes away some of the traditional peaceful character.
Really nice tree like it is!
