Too late to repot an azalea? Empty Too late to repot an azalea?

I recently purchased a large azalea off of Ebay and it appears to have very compacted soil. When I water it takes a long time for the water to drain through the holes in the pot. Would it be better to wait to repot, or could I do it now?

I would wait until spring (Feb/Mar in your area?). You might use a chopstick to poke some holes into the root ball to improve water penetration.

Thank you, I will try the chopstick...sounds like a good option. Kind of figured it was too late to repot now.
