Yamadori Mt Hemlock

Post  Jason Eider on Wed Oct 02, 2013 4:57 am

Looks like the day to share some of our PNW Mt. Hemlock.
This is a tree I collected in the Cascade Mts. of WA State a few years ago and this fall got it's first styling.
Hope you like.

Wow, first styling, very impressive indeed!

Well done, how tall is it?

Love and light

That is pretty impressive. I am guessing that you will continue refining the foliage pads.

Thank you very much for the compliments, I am very happy w/ it's progress so far on it's young journey as a bonsai.

It is 19 inches tall and 5 & 1/2 inches across at the base.

plan on letting it adjust to it's new styling next growing season and repot into a more suitable container spring of 2015.

thanks again, Jason

Thanks Graham. Have some sub-alpine fir ready for some work as well, and some recently collected Yellow cedar.
Have any sub-alpines you can share pics of? anyone?

Thanks Peter,

That was me, I styled this one by myself over the course of a couple of nights after work last week.

Looking very good. Do you have a clearer photograph?

Best,
Dorothy

Thanks, Dorothy.
Could still use some wiring on some of the secondary branches and a few tweeks.
Any suggestions/ideas for improvement would be appreciated.

Jason, thank you for the photograph. Now we can enjoy your work even more!

Since you asked for suggestions there is only one thing I like to comment on: The trunkline (middle part) is covered by foliage and makes the front of the tree looking like the back. While that may not be so much of a problem when standing directly in front of the tree (tree is leaning towards you), on a two dimensional picture it looks quite the opposite.

Otherwise very nice styling, I really like it!

Best,
Dorothy

Yes, indeed!
I do like your work, Jason!
Out of curiosity, is your avatar picture some in the place where you live?

Hi Nellie, Thank you.

The picture in my avatar is taken in the Olympic Mountains in WA state, about 50 miles west of Seattle.

Thanks for your response!
Aha, Olympic it is? Lovely Mountains!
I apologize a priori for the off topic, but I thought I would share with you.....
Olympic definition = pertaining to Olympic games/Olympia in Greece, pertaining to mount Olympus, Greece.
So, this is Mount Olympos in Greece, for your enjoyment.
