I have this Satsuki (of unknown variety) which is blooming in September, this is the 3rd time it blooms this year (2 other times were in April and June)
Any one has any idea why?
Here are some recent pictures (it is still with flowers but not as abundant as 2 previous times)

Nice flowers.

Some varieties of Satsuki do flower at this time of the year. This tree seems to be in development... I would remove the flowers so that the blooming energy is spent on the tree & roots instead. This is a good time to fertilize lightly (with less nitrogen) so that to strengthen the roots in preparation for winter.

Pretty tree and pot Xuan! I concur with juniper07, enjoy the flowers for a day then remove them and feed with a dose of low nitrogen fertilizer.

Not really that unusual.  Lots of the satsuki (but not all) grown here commercially for landscape use bloom off and on throughout the summer and are really getting started now.  'Momo no haru' is about to really crank it up, and for that reason has become a very popular azalea here.

I will add that I DID NOT see this happening in Kanuma.  An odd flower now and then was one thing, but nothing like I see here.  I figure it's our weather that throws them off.  We have nothing like the 4 (or 5 if you count the rainy season) seasons like Japan has.

Thanks Juniper, Todd and Russell for your comments
I have another Satsuki (of the Chinzan variety) which bloomed the same way last year ( 3 waves of flowers a couple of months apart)
