B-Nut hacked

It seems that someone has hacked Bonsai Nut. All I got was a screen "Hacked by (someone)" and a bit of rap music. I have no idea if the site is contagious or not, but none of my security software issued a warning.

Just be careful.

I just saw that as well. I hope everything has been backed up over there.

It does not seem to be a virus, but be careful anyway guys.
More likely someone injected a script into the site.
From what I've been able to analyse, someone activated the notice feature and added a redirection "code".

That's why you get redirected to that site every time to try to access Bnut.
I managed to dismiss the notification on my end and the site is working fine for now for my profile.

If the admin or owners of the site Bonsai Nut are on IBC and are having issues with removing the script, please drop me an IM and I'll try to help out.

If you can get in, you might drop a line to the administrator -- Dan, I think. Check his profile for e-mail, etc.

I don't think Dan is an IBCer.

You can get in if you set your browser to "Warn when websites try to redirect" or similar. In firefox that setting can be found in options/advanced/accessibility.

I've send a PM to the admin, I've not been able to find his real addr.

The hacker created several dummy admin accounts, and there's a high chance that the messages that we are sending via the site BNut will not reach the admin of Bonsai Nut.

Interesting...I noticed a number of new "admin" accounts when I was searching for a contact and thought that was strange. Now it makes sense.

I sent a PM to user "Bonsai Nut" who seems to be the primary manager of the site. Whether it gets to him I cannot say...
