Help! I'm drowning!

Post  JimLewis on Thu Jul 04, 2013 3:26 pm

We had 13 inches of rain in June and 10 inches so far in July.  My trees are growing gills.

Same thing here, Jim. We've already had 5+ more inches of rain this year then we did in all of 2013. Cool weather, too (I know, I shouldn't complain)...I don't think it made it to 70F for a high in Atlanta yesterday. All my tomatoes are going toes up due to fungal blight, too:cry: .

Global warming?
Same here. We have rain every day. No fungus issues, but I can't feed my orchids. All I could give the bonsai is Osmocote.

Buts its like real estate isn;t it.....Location, location...location....... I can't really relate to the measly amounts of rain you've had....for after all we are called the WET coast for a reason. lol.
Conversly we have finally turned the corner and summer has arrived....watering the trees every day now Laughing

Disturbing weather trends abound. Extremes of heat and storm events are becoming more common. I was horrified to see many people in my own city badly flooded earlier this year. Many other communities globally had to deal with similar conditions. Now we have both extreme heat and extreme wet in different places and national weather records being broken regularly. I just hope that we can get a grip on the industries/powerproducers that are creating CO2 etc and heating us all up.

we are jumping between 25-30c and full sun on the one hand, and 12-15c and rain on the other. Crazy. All plant in the garden have aphids now, with the ants having a blast. Ah well.. The next two weeks are supposed to be a stable 25 degrees and sunshine again. Good after the stunning 60mm of rain in 1 hour of two weeks ago...

Same here in Mauritius.
We got a record amount of rain on our capital on 30th May.
Capital went underwater and got 11 deaths.

Apparently 1/2 of our beaches will be gone by 2050, from a recent estimate I've read.

The global warming has been going on for more than 20 years as far as I can remember.
And the global changes have been getting worst and worst.
Last year we got a severe drought, first time in history as far as I can remember. Our reservoirs were below 25% of their capacity.
This year it was over flooded.

Central Virginia's rainfall for June was the 6th highest in 118 years. Some of my deciduous trees dropped a lot of leaves (a trident, lacebark elm, and wild plume); looked like Fall on my benches for a couple of days Very Happy ; some leaves turned yellow, some didn't... and I ruled out insect attack. Next time I think I will tip the pots to help minimize the water.
