The tree i got in tennessee flowered good.. flowers before leaves.. the leaves came on they are huge !! can i reduce the size ??? they are almost big as my hand.. thanks john

Maybe. Lots of sunlight, and time in pot (in terms of years and rootbound-ness) are key. When it is mature, defoliation MAY help. Do not overfertilize.

Thank you Jim,, the tree is healthy so when could i de foliate this thing to get smaller leaves ??? The flowers were pretty bare branched.. Thanks John

I've been away, John. Patience. It's very hard to advise without a picture, but if the tree is healthy, I suppose you could defoliate. It may be safer to just remove the largest leaves. I have never done one of these and do not know how they will react to total defoliation.

Whatever you do, remember you defoliate by cutting the leaves off (leaving some petiole) and NOT by ulling them off.
