fungus on trunk
Down here in Naples, Florida where it is moist all year long, lichen grows on everything. I have this on my tropical mimosa tree. It is very healthy but the bark is crumbly to the touch if it is rubbed with my thumb. Is this a big concern or should scrape the trunk and limbs with a tooth brush to remove the lichen? [img][/img]

There's a difference between lichen and fungus. Lichen is OK, fungus is not. Which do you have?

Then don't worry. Lichen can help give you trees the look of some age. It does no damage to the tree.
