I know nothing about this species or its growth habit, but your picture reminded me of this hawthorne raft progression of Harry H's.

That is a pretty cool tree.
This species is a very powerful grower, once containerized. The trees I've collected have pushed buds 5 days after collection, from what I've read, they're adapted to a lot of different soils, and have considerable salt tolerance. They seem to have no trouble rooting, even after a severe root pruning. This tree was collected about a month ago, and it's are already escaping the colander. I may need to think about slip potting it, or putting it in the ground.
