Collecting from the wild proper procedure

I have the opportunity to collect a couple of well established junipers from where they are currently growing in the ground.

What should I put the trees in post collection? I'm not sure if they should adjust to container growth in a large pot for a lengthy period without any major root pruning, or if the roots can be pruned and they can go directly into bonsai pots.

Are these wild juniper or are they from someone's yard or garden? If wild, what kind of environment?

By wild I mean they are growing in the ground and have been for some time. They are from a person's garden not a forest or native situation.

When you dig them you will be pruning the roots. In Florida, I think I would wash all the garden soil off the roots (the soil is probably so sandy it will fall off anyway) then slightly trim the roots with sharp scissors just to ensure that the cuts are clean and pot them up in large pots or a grow box filled with bonsai soil. Then let them be -- except for water and fertilizer -- for a couple of years.

When you say grow pots, can you enlighten me a bit. Would they be just large regular pots or shallower "bonsai-like" containers that have a large perimeter? I see many pictures here on the forums of material in what looks like somewhat shallow wooden boxes. Are those grow pots?
