Bald Cypress Group Empty Bald Cypress Group

Post  jgeanangel Fri Jun 18, 2010 11:12 am

Hello all, Somewhere I saw someone had mentioned something about how tall bonsai can be. Here is a group planting that I have just put together that certainly qualifies as my tallest/largest planting. It has a ways to go from a training and development perspective, but I think it will develop pretty quickly. My plan for the smallest tree is to develop it to bring about a perspective of distance.
This video is really short...Thanks for watching!!

So, I guess 65"/1.6m is not too tall:)

I have a couple of other single trees that are going to end up at this height as well.

I am not in the habit of posting links to other forums but these trees are exceptional and if you are a BC lover...especially of large trees. I would say they are well worth a peek...you will have to join the forum to see the pics. What I can't believe is that the guy growing these lives in Michigan....well north of their typical habit.

Be sure to check out all three pages... I cannot imagine trying to collect let alone repot and move Bonzilla!!!

Thanks for the update on your grouping. I like the new front.

That's funny about the foot/toe comment, Dorthy.
That's one of the things I like about jgeanangel's approach...It's no big deal, it's easy-peesy, etc...

Sooo sorry...

I was listening to National Public Radio story on the radio about the Wizard of OZ.
'Dorthy' and the Munchkins just stuck in my brain...

I can't begin to tell you how refreshing it is to see a bald cypress bonsai styled so that it actually looks like a real cypress - not a redwood or a fat cypress buttress with a Japanese triangle stuck on top of it - but a real, honest to God natural looking cypress. Thanks!

Thought I'd share this with you John, I know you'll appreciate it. This is a painting of a scene in the river delta at the north end of Mobile Bay. From what I see on my computer it looks better reduced to 50%.

Thank you sir! Looks like the storm damage trees I see along the coastal rivers of SC and also offers the kind the perspective I am attempting to achieve with this group.

Did you ever build the forest we discussed at one time?

I like the new front, John! Did you recently hollow the bottom of main tree or did you already add that previously? Looks killer cheers
