Who made these pots?

Post  Hans Vleugels on Thu Sep 03, 2009 1:09 pm

Hi folks,

Does anybody recognize this Hanko? I have bought three shohin pots of this potter, I like these pots very much and I really would like to know his name...
I have no idea if they are Chinese or Japanese, but my guess is they came from Asia...

This one has two stamps, so here this person worked with somebody else on this pot..

I already searched on www.bonsaipotplaza.com but without succes.

Thanks for any help!

Regards,
Hans

Hi!

I have the same one (the small rectangular greenish pot) which makes me think that they are mass-produced ;-)

I quite like them too, they have this nice 'antique' finish at the bottom and in the glaze, but I think this 'antique' look is also an indicator that they are not really 'high-end' pots; such pots would be expected to obtain a natural patina through 'regular' aging.

Yes, I have the same opinion about this. They are probably mass produced and not handmade. Although I didn't see them much before. I believe the quality is pretty good for shohin pots, and the prices are much lower than the high-end pots, and this makes them interesting pots. If I knew the potter, it would be interesting for me, because probably I could find more pots of his work much easier...

Hans

The three characters in the logo if translated to Japanese would read "Spring Country Hall. Or perhaps pronounced Harazaidoo.
I couldn't find a comon name in my Japanese dictionary so I suspect its Chinese and the name of the Kiln in the country.
