Very nice development from the seed to tree.

Reminds me of my tamarind, how long have you grown this?

Very nice. Is it difficult to germinate or do the seeds require any pretreatment? The only source I have for seeds is from a packet of tamarind paste from the supermarket. I wonder if that will work...

Balian,

they are easily grown from seed and in the open ground using say a colander, you can get a 2 to 3 inch [ 5 to 8 cm ] trunk in a year, so it doesn't take to long to have something to work on.
Later.

Where in the Philippines are you from Balian?

If you are a beginner, do not use seeds./seedlings unless you are into reforestration program hehe. Seriously though, You might lose the interest in bonsai at the early stage. But if you wanted to experiment on seedlings be sure you have some nicer ones to keep your hands busy while waiting for your seedlings.

The tree above would take around five years to develop.

Thanks John!

I did visit and post in your thread...sorry for the late reply. been very busy with bonsai activities this past few months. We'll have show in March and another one in April. I am preparing several trees for the two events.

Yes that is right...but what I hate about this tamarind seedlings as you have noticed yourself LLB is that they tend to grow very straight up with few branches on the lower part. I am planning to air layer this tree just below the first branch. to come up with nice lower branches.
