Hi Andre,

A lovely tree and can only get better. A tree that can take the viewer to many places and evoke many feelings. Perhaps a glazed pot could be introduced at some stage in the future, but pots are always down to personal taste. Again, great tree mate.

Cheers

David

The repotting you did, did wonders for the appearance of the nebari. Really looks great. I love the natural feel of your design. Thanks for updating us on this tree. Well done.

Well done!  I liked the idea of planting a little deeper, it made a huge difference.

Now I can't wait to lift the one I've got in the ground.

Hi Andre

When it hit me I was incredibly surprised nobody suggested this:

Epic thread, and I think the only air-layer that would do your tree justice and improve it.

Cheers

My Broom Celtis - Page 3 Empty a VERY nice and naturalistic tree...BUT

Post  theBalance Sun Sep 29, 2013 4:47 pm

in my humble opinion, there is a contradiction between the upper part that convey a far viewing distance, and the bottom part, the nebari with this proportion and the level of details that convey a close viewing distance.
and this makes me feel uncomfortable...

looking back at the thread, I think that Jose Luis Suggestion of doing an airlayer will solve this conflict by making the bottom part looks also like from a far viewing distance

I've used walter pic ( just cut the lower part ) to show what I mean

Marco thank you bro, you make me walk upright even more...hihihi

Thank you Vietnat, you have great taste...hihihihihihii

Thank you for your input theBalance.... But if Walter Pall says that my tree is nice then that is all that matters, for his opinion counts more that a 1000 men, even though you are from the Holy land..hihihiii. You wont believe it, but I'm Jewish aswell,(non practising, I believe more in the Buddist way of life now.) my Dad lives in Had Nes.
What does WDYT stand for? I'm blond.

Thank you Walter ....I will see and in Pretoria In Ocotber!!!!! I cant wait.

Walter is indeed a GREAT bonsai artist, and one who I personally follow and learn a lot from him:D
he even came to visit&teach us in the holy land Cool

Walter - may I ask, what do you think about what I said ( contradiction between close/far viewing distance)

the Balance,

I think there is something to it. But I would not see the necessity to change the present nebari.

And my Celtis at the show,  The orchid next to it is also one of mine,  my own cross! (SLC)

Just two days before the show, Angel my parrot proceeded to climb through the tree, finishing off the first bottom branch and three other branches in the middle of the tree.  You can see them painted white with lime sulfur, not something you do with a broom, but look at the gaps in it.  Needless to say Angel was grounded for a month with the doves in the aviary.  He hates them..

Nice, natural looking tree and some good decisions made to improve it, i preferred it more when more of the nebari was being shown as below, it could be mistaken for a mature beech tree, beautiful.

My Broom Celtis - Page 3 Celtis11

im not fond of the whitened branches in the new image, i just dont think its fitting of the rest of the tree, we see dead branches on deciduous trees in nature yes, in England we see this a lot on mature Oak, but they usually have other dead areas, hollows etc that complete the flow.....whereas this tree has beautiful smooth bark, smooth lines, i dont believe it needs that feature.
if it was mine i'd want to get in there and refine the structure a little more, beautiful tree though Cool

ps It would be a worthy addition to this thread, i often used this thread for inspiration in the past and its a great thread for beginners

It is always something, bird, dog, pets, children, something will happen, and becomes a new design possibility. Think of it as being forced to open up your canopy. You bird was just getting even with you for being out of town so much last year. They don't forget, they get even. LOL

I want to see a close up of your orchid. Looks like a hybrid with Laelia anceps in it? Am I guessing right? Maybe post it in Kusamono sub forum.

Khaimraj  you flatter me, why did I skip the Apollo phase?  hi hihihhii

Bobby, thank you for the compliments,  Yes the dead branches was only left because I didn't want to sit with 4 open wounds,  but they will be shortened now.
This Celtis was part of the 'Clean sweep show us your brooms' one of the moderators separated it because we were discussing it in that post, which was very arrogant of me. Embarassed

Kevin that is a great compliment, never the less.

Leo your eyes does not deceive you as you are right,  one op the parents was Laelia, but alas the orchid is no more, I only have the stone left and shriveled up pseudo bulbs.  Not only was Angle pissed at me for being away so long, but I lost about 20 bonsai and 30 orchids (mostly miniatures) and about 100 succulents.   I  also lost my Titan Lilies, and ,my giant Victoria amazonica lilies and ten of my Welwitchias....  pale Sad which I did cry about.

The rest of my bonsai now looks like shrubs.  But we will find the bonsai in them again.

I now realize that went I go away again, I will have to employ an extra person just to water! Watering is an art!
