English Oak Development Empty English Oak Development

Post  wabashene Sun Jun 13, 2010 10:41 am

This was a rescue from my rugby club car park so I have developed from scratch

I nearly gave up on this 4 years ago but feel it has some merit now.

There is a lot of sucker deformity on this.

The brown marks bottom left/bottom pic are where I have shaved the bark a little to try and cure the reverse taper look.

Getting there slowly imo

Thks

Looks like fun. Is that big branch, top right, going to stay? It looks a bit large for that high in the tree.

Keep at it. We don't have many workable oaks here in the eastern USA. Some nice ones out west though -- Gambel Oak, especially. Looks much like this one.

I think the from and to is quite exquisite. Clearly more work to do but hey-ho that is the fun of this passion.

English Oak Development Empty Chopped for Further Development

The title says it.

Needs to grow out now and care will have to be taken that this doesn't end up looking like a pine.

The scars and uro that I carved, are looking very natural now imo.
