I just acquired a small Satsuki this past weekend at the Potomac Bonsai Association (PBA) show
(the name of the variety is Hi No Maru)

I was nice seeing you there Xuan, I looked at all of them and couldn't bring myself to spend the $$ for the root over rock one. Hope you enjoy it

That looks to be a tree with nice potential -- especially base, trunk and first couple of branches. The top needs pulling in -- a lot.

Hi GriGri, I looked at that root over the rock too but it's expensive and to me the rock is rather small and I already have one

I am thinking to shorten the lower left branch a little bit

That would be my preference too, it looks a bit flat and symmetrical now.

Please try to root whatever you prune off! (yes, that's a hint)
