Apologies,

no where near the standard of your Ficus bonsai.
Enjoy the Christmas berries.
To your talent and don't forget to write that book.

Mesh at the base is to stop the birds from digging, Apologies.

Anyone feel free to comment yay or nay.

!!!Seasons Greetings, Merry Christmas!!!

Khaimraj

* A little history. Started like back in 1983 or 4 as a three leaf cutting, from my school in Florence [ the mascot.]
Never gave any trouble. Leaves are never glossy and next year I have to really tidy up the tree.
About 81 cm tall, 112 cm wide and the trunk is 15 cm wide.
[ see I can grow a big trunk if I want too - chuckle ha ha ha ]

Hi Yvone,

It is nice to see your post again. Ficus benjamina in subtropical zone is really hard to maintain.
Happy holiday season.

Merry Christmas to All,

and on a bit of sour note which I have to address -

on another site, where it was stated that I felt I was an expert ---- please note, Bonsai is how I relax, and I enjoy growing trees, I make no money from it and I share freely -------- I am no expert. Thank you.

I was raised with a given amount discipline [ self ] and I guess to some that makes me ---- difficult.

That said -

Sam - thank you, I should have shown the other sides - the tree is not really a bonsai, just a straight trunk with a circular green hat, but it was the only ficus, that I could use to wish Yvonne all the best. Ficus I believe is the only tree we have in common.

Alexandra, if I can I will show you my Olive - but it is an Africana, okay.

Yvonne - I just hope it all brought a smile to your pretty face.

Hello Budi - yes, it is very impressive that someone in Denmark can grow ficus so well !
Seasons greetings to you sir!

Thank you Jerry, very much for looking and taking the time to comment!
Happy Holidays!

Neli [ is your name pronounced Neel i or Nellie ? inquiring minds want to know?] thank you and I look forward to reading more about what you are doing.
I will make a few more posts and then probably be gone from the list until September next year, so if you should need help just send a p.m. and I will try to respond.

To all - Happy New Year !!!

LLB,

Yay and Nay!

Yay because it was grown patiently And turning out well. Nay, because it looks too bushy at the moment, I hope to see naked one day. My experience with ficus, they are best shown naked because ramification is their asset and not the leaves (crown).
I love this particular species displayed with just branches/branchets with lots of berries.

Merry Christmas!!..I't been several Christmas and we are still here...hehehe.

regards,
your LLB Smile

Bro,

you are absolutely correct and it is because,

[a] This ficus type is evergreen and to defoliate looks unnatural,

[b] How quickly the fine twigs become fat twigs and I can't handle that at all,

Which is why I have only a few ficus trees on my stands and those are because, I got them when I was very young, about 23 or 24 and from friends of my dad, so I am stuck with them, and anyone else would probably not treat them kindly, so I can't give them away. Re-planting them would be fine, if I could find a safe place, but these trees will become huge and since they don't fruit for human consumption, chances are someone would chop them down. Sad

Both of my yards, here in San'do and Mayaro, are filled with fruit trees and shade trees [ I have a beautiful Black Heart Poui that covers the back yard for 6m around in bright yellow flowers 3 times for the months of February to May, before the rains return.] so no space left.

I may do as the Chinese do, and work as a rooted style.

Fortunately, they are easy to look after, nothing will eat them [ like how another caterpillar just ate through some 15 of my Japanese black pine recently germinated seedlings -------- and I still didn't kill him because it's a butterfly, so I took him about a mile away and placed him elsewhere - yes I am a wimp - ha ha ha.]

By the way, love the work, Pirate island, luv it! Great imagination!
Wishing you and your all the best.
