Hi
I acquired the below tree for what I thought was a good deal as it seemed to have some sort of mite or other pest causing the the white, fluffy, sappy deposits on the needles. The tree was offered for sale in a local bonsai nursery as a Japanese White Pine. I started an earlier thread on here, asking about the possible pest affecting the tree, and somebody stated that the tree was in fact a Bristle-Cone Pine and so the white substance (resin-flecking) on the leaves was actually normal for this species. So, is it parviflora, aristata or something else?
Many thanks, Lee.

This is a Pinus aristata. They have more resin spots in winter then in sommer.

Ahh yes Klaus. I remember now it was yourself that originally ID'd the tree in the other thread. Not that I don't respect your opinion, but I would love somebody else to comment if anybody has any idea. So far I have the vendor stating it is parviflora and you, Klaus, stating it is aristata. confused
