Here are my juniper procumbens that I have been working with for ten years now. They have all started out just like any other procumbens juniper with the juvenile foliage , but after much care and lessons learned the hard way throughout those ten years, they have produced the mature shimpaku like foliage, and have now gotten to where I am happy with them. All comments are welcome. Smile

Thanks for posting. I think #2 is special -- but it should be in a round pot. <g>

Hmm, I never even considered that. I'll have to see what that would look like at next repotting. Wink

These are fantastic trees. Thanks for sharing. Could you explain a little bit how you encourage mature foliage on procumbens?

Beautiful trees and photography! The three last trees do evoke emotion!

Well done.

It consists of constant pinching being very careful not to pinch too hard or else you'll weaken the tree considerably and possibly lose a branch or two, and a lot of time, and by that I mean "years time". Smile

I think that's a good idea too. But regardless, the first AND the second tree deserve quality pots. It's time.

The foliage is left that dense for one specific reason; the trunk. The trunk on this juniper is truly the weakest point and I styled the tree with this in mind to hide as much of it as possible. It resembles a twisted up hose with probably the same diameter as one. Wish it wasn't so but it is. Crying or Very sad

Thanks for sharing your beautiful collection of J.procumbens, agree with others the second is something special, however, for me the 3rd has something about it that calls stronger. I would like to see it turned counterclockwise about 15deg & the tilt also lifted about the same, another 10yrs & all that extra foliage should help the trunk along and give you a whole lot of fun ThumbsUp
