And no doubt a relative of "the cloud" which would, I suppose in this case, probably be Jim's mother trees mother...Right Billy?

I guess I don't know about "The Cloud." This tree dates from the mid 1950's. Whose tree is/was "The Cloud?"

OK, found "The Cloud." I had always understood that Joe Samuels found the first F. salisifolia, the tree above might be the cutting that Joe Samuels gave Jim Smith?

Thanks Dorothy

I found the Mary Miller account on my own, Jim's tree is dated 1975, so it all makes sense.

Just to set thr record straight, my tree was purchased from a retail nursery on Vero's Beach for $10.00 in 1975. I found that his source was a wholesale nursery in Ap0opka Florida. This nursery had a large supply of them growing in containers in green houses.

Joe Samuel's bonsai -the Cloud exhibited at the ABS BCI 1975 convention in Miami was my inspiration.

This display is well worth visiting for anyone in the area. Some fantastic trees that serve as both inspiration and intimidation.
