Sylvestris from Norway

Lovely little tree.Great bark for such a small, delicate thing. Pic 2 looks like a good idea as far as the needles go but prune back over a couple of seasons to build strength in lower branches. Second to last pic has nice movement, maybe tilted a little to the right.large root will have to be delt with ,but youll have to see what else is under the soil in spring.

As the tree already features a large shari, I'd say leave a respectably sized jin if/when you cut back that top branch. Do it in stages. I'd say at first leave a larger jin than you think, perhjaps one with a couple of the higher branches also jinned. See what it looks like, have a good think about it and then, if necessary cut it back a little more. Finish it by splitting the end(s) with cutters and then peeling progressively finer strips of wood back with needle nosed or jin pliers.
