Hi Hưng-Trần... Many of your stones are exceptional. In this set of stones (with the exception of the first stone), their surfaces are dull and lifeless. To me, they look repeatedly wetted by oiling. They will never regain the translucence of freshly collected stones.

It grieves me that stone friends seldom listen to concerns about oiling. It is does not create anything comparable to Joseph's (stonener's) wife applying make-up. Oiling looks gorgeous (though landscape view stones NEVER look their best as "gorgeous"), but reduces stones' natural translucence over time. Stones cannot extract oil as human skin does naturally.

For these dull stones, you can oil them, again, to regain superficial wetness... but it will not look like a natural stone when dry or when 'drying after saturation with water'.

Perhaps, you posted these as a lesson to others. I am sorry for these stones with wonderful contour but much-reduced potential for appreciation.

Hi Trantanhung
Many thanks for trying to show us your version of stones without the sheen, that was so desliked by a prominent member, in a recent tread.

Chris....to me is it plain abuse to speak about other members family....and when I am at it....do not speak about other people...quote them!....or just like other people do...speak for your self.

Kind regards yvonne

Yvonne,

This is a public forum...and we in the US believe in free speech. You have the right also to disagree with others but...I feel your declaration to Chris stepped over the line of civility. Demanding that he cannot quote an open statement in the forum would have been better suited in a private message.

I admire your wonderful work with daiza and see that you have a good eye for viewing stones. Please do not make this disagreement over the proper handling of collected stones into a battle.

Respectfully,
Norma

Hi Norma
This is exacly what I ask Chris to do....to QUOTE....and not send hes interpretation of, what other people might have said, or even do at home.....please read what I said one more time.

I am very happy you like my stones and daizawork. And no, I dont want a battle....

Hello Mr. Chris ,
Mr. Mitch - Cedarbog ,
Norma and Yvonne ,
and all Members IBC Forum ,
I like that ( this could be considered my Freedom ... However , in these stones , I used OIL on the surface of them ... But I also will be able to clean all the oil out of them , if i want to ... Because they are the material close tightly and have no holes )
For by the rock material formed holes ... _ OIL can permanently damage the stone ...
A conclusion is very useful for me ... _ Should have experience know ... :
OIL will not do damage to the rock material ...???
And for some rock material (?) ... OIL may help the stone surface can look better .
(And detail of the 9 Landscape-Stones above ... OIL has permanently damage only a few members of them ... because I am not a complete experience ! )
Thanks for the interest in the guidance of Mr. Chris .
Thanks for comments and sharings of Yvonne , Norma , Mr. Mitch - Cedarbog and all .
Sincerely ,
Hưng - Trần .
