question on threat grafting
I have done some threat grafting in the past in which the new growth was bend DOWN and then passed through the tree. In the current case, I have a healthy stem with small branches up high and a low branch with good growth which I would like to use for threading. But in this case, the leads would pass through the stem ABOVE the placement of this branch. Am I going to be fighting auxins when I do this?
BTW, This is a European Olive tree.

Re: question on threat grafting
If I'm reading what you say correctly, my assumption would be that you fought auxins in the past, and hopefully won? Letting the growth from a low branch go up and then through the trunk wouldn't be fighting auxins but following the natural flow. Either way, I don't think you should have too many problems. Olive is such a vigorous tree, it should do fine.

Re: question on threat grafting
Makes sense to me... If you are going to make a "threat" graft you might have to fight auxins.
Ed, your thread graft will be fine. Just give it time to do it's thing without being disturbed.
Good luck,
Ed
