Any tips on Ostrya carpinifolia?
I've just received 3 seedlings of European hop hornbeam (Ostrya carpinifolia).
Some of you must have O. virginiana, I suppose the requirements are similar.
I couldn't find any thread or message on the forum about the genus, but maybe you have some experience with it?

The American species prefers drier feet than hornbeam (Carpinus) do. It also is a coarser tree, with larger, heavier leaves. The bark, rather than being smooth and "muscled" is rough and shready. Leaves are a more dull, yellow green than lusterous deep green. An OK tree for bonsai, but not that great.

Thanks for the reply, Jim. It seems that apart from Italy, and Crotia, O. carpinifolia is not a species used by people over here. We'll see, it's a new experience.
