Hello Fiona and others in the "know" Very Happy ,

I would like to retrieve, and store, some of my old photos that I posted on IBC ... if there is a way. My computer crashed during late Spring and I cannot afford to restore my old hard drive. I would like to retrieve my old photos from the IBC forum to save on my fixed computer. Please understand that I am not a geek and do not know "the ways of the wise ones..." when it comes to electronics...

Thanks for any help!

Thank you Jim. I do know how to find them on IBC. I want to know how I can retrieve them and save them for future use on my personal computer. For example, I want to write an article for a newsletter and need some old photos. I lost them during the computer crash, but they exist on IBC currently; can I retrieve these? and if so how?

Thanks,
Todd

Select, copy then paste the old pic into an image app on your machine .

Works for me - even MS PAint will do the job.

Only copies what you posted of course.

Sorry.  Guess I assumed too much.  So, right click on the picture, select Save As, select a name for the picture and the location on your hard drive and save them to your own machine that way.

Yep, that's what I'd do. Easy!

Todd, if I understand your question correctly the simplest method must be to R-click on the image, select "Save to" and select the file from those that appear in the panel. When the correct file is open press "Save", and voila! (I suspect I may have oversimplified your problem however - don't want to appear patronising) Cheers.

I had the same problem a while ago. With my macbook I just have to drag and drop the pic into iPhotos.

Thanks everyone... I can do that! I didn't think it would be that easy. I do know how to copy and paste:D
I'll let you know how it went...

URGENT!!! HIGH PRIORITY!!!!

Todd, hold on a sec before you launch off into a mass save as session.

Have you been using the normal method of uploading pics to IBC?  I just looked at a couple of you posts from today and from way back and it seems you have.  If so, the solution is dead easy as all your images will still be on your servimg account.  Go to www.servimg.com. You will have been asked for a password somewhere down the line.   There isn't really a need to save your images to somewhere else (unless of course you want a hard drive copy). If you write an article you can just retrieve the image from servimg and use it when appropriate.

PM me if you need more help.

ps  this is why I save all my images to a cloud as well as keeping hard disc copies.

For those who don't know what I meant in that last post, when you "host" an image here on IBC using the forum's internal method, your images are stored on a system called servimg, which is a photohosting system similar to Flickr. Essentially, this means that every image you upload here is stored on a e.system under your own personal directory and is therefore independent of your hard drive.

The other good thing about that is that your image is stored at its original size, whereas if you Copy and Paste or Save As, you will probably get a much smaller image.
