Spots on a "Satsuki Azalea"
I bought this "bonsai" off the internet from Brussel's Nursery, and have had absolutely no problems with it. That is, until now, I have absolutely no clue what could be doing this and anything I have found on Google when searching for azalea leaf spots just doesn't look quite the same. I have some pics from various distances of the plant to try to give the best picture of what is going on. The temp around here had been dropping to about 43-45 degrees F at night, so I brought it in a few days ago to try to keep it from getting too cold until I can get some mulch to bury the pot, roots, and all. Normally sits on the porch on the west side of the house. I had an azalea that did something similar last year around this same time, but it ended up in the forest in the sky. Hope that doesn't happen with this one.

It's a fungus. Keep the foliage dry. Remove the infected leaves on the plant and if there are any lying about and keep it in an area where the air will circulate through.

Is it possible then that this was caused by too much foilage and not enough air circulation?

Just like Judy said.
Keep it outside, it needs air going through and that's not going to happen if it's inside. It's an environmental issue meaning the foliage is too damp for extended periods of time and fungus spores love it. Clean it out and put it outside.

It has only been inside for about 2 days, AFTER I noticed the spots. I thought that perhaps the lower temps at night might have been the cause. I will be placing it back outside tomorrow.

A fungal infection may well be involved, but I suspect that one of the sucking "true bugs" (AKA stinkbugs) got it started. They're large insects, but move around enough that they can be hard to spot, and sometimes do their dirty work at dusk. But where they stick their little probosci <g> into the leaves you get little round spots; they also can carry various fungi.
Also, remember the time of year. Leaves -- including azalea leaves -- are getting tired and are shutting down. They get susceptible to insect and fungal attacks. Mine have started and you are farther north than I and, I suspect, at a higher altitude.
I'd merely remove the affected leaves and DESTROY them. If you feel the need to spray, use a pyrethrin spray in the evening.
