"Yokohama"

Post  Guest on Thu Jul 05, 2012 4:11 pm

Hi IBC.

Today I changed my car tires...and I thought- I'll be contributing another trash to this world again. So my imagination played a little bit again and I come up with an environmentally friendly solution. hehehe. Razz

Put some holes on my old tire, get a cascade phempis from a boring pot and presto a recycled tire in my garden.

I'll be hanging this tree in my garden, and I am going to weld a chain on a steel post.

....By the way this is my only "Japanese" pot - Yokohama

PS. I still have 3 more used tires...

go green,
jun alien rendeer

Neat Idea, here's a another thought

Cut the tire in half so it doesnt overpower the focal point of having a tree in it.

I like it -- a lot. The image is very "Oriental." Worth entering it in your next show, Jun.

What a brilliant ideea!
At my grandma's house I can find some 12 used tires. Cut in half I get 24 pots.

THANK YOU people for all the positive response...

If any body wanted to borrow the idea you are welcome,,,to show the world that even with a small token of thought that bonsai people are concerned with the environment. and that we are not just like crazy barbarians ripping the wild apart for yamadori.

Very clever Jun. The image is very nice. I wonder how the tree will do in the pot; any chance of the rubber being toxic? Please keep us posted on its progress.

Hi Todd,

thanks!
I don't think the rubber is more toxic than our concrete pots.

I'll give the progress report of this tree in the future... being a sensitive specie, it will be a good test study.
