When to carve?
Hi All
New to carving. When should I do it, i.e. straight away after the bark has been peeled off or wait for the exposed wood to dry and then have a go at it?

Re: When to carve?
hi,
fresh wood peels much easier so you will get very nice grooved jin and texture if you use hand tools and jin pliers. Properly dried out wood cuts cleaner with machine cutting bits but you dont get the tiny natural looking grooves achieved by hand
i guess its down to the tools of choice
Cheers Marcus

Thanks Marcus. I'll experiment with some tree branches in the garden first.
