My new SUPER MAME
These are my new Super Mame just "ready" in different styles...
Size : Less than 3 cm.
Look at the old twisting bark and ramification structure being trained by wiring and clip-and-grow...
Do you see the tiny Chinese Calligraphy on the right side ?
It is an ivory micro engraving; the characters and pictures can only view with magnifying glass.
Mini landscape..
Cascade...
Still more than 30 in training...
Sorry, forgot to say, these are all Premna microphilla...

I love the tiny ones, and I really like the second one. What is the species.
Thanks for posting.

Re: My new SUPER MAME
These minis must take patience to water properly. A ml or two either way could spell disaster for very small ones, I would think. I nurtured some small companion plants until I missed one watering. Doomsday.
Robert Steven, these are a nice surprise. Thanks.

What kind of wire do you use for this tree? It must be as thick as hair.

Re: My new SUPER MAME
Yes it is. I am being very careful because I'll use this small one as the mother tree....then I'll make lot of super mame from it and sell them and put a very high price on each tree,,, because in every pot I'll inscribed----"from master Robert Steven collection" (which is quite true ) hehehe! just kidding...but why not. hehehe again.

jun

Re: My new SUPER MAME
Hi Robert,
Your mames are very cute
Are they really so small or the lighter size is unusual? hahaha
By the way, may I get your permission to show your mame photos in my local bonsai club's website (by referencing your name of course!)?
Thanks

Re: My new SUPER MAME
Hello Robert,
Very nice trees do you have.
I am from South Amerika and I wonder how I can get seeds or a plant from something of these Premna.
Where did you get them from.
Regards Rakesh

They are local here.
You can contact Pedro Morales from Puerto Rico and I am sure he has some nice Premna shohin for sale...

These are masterful. I too was wondering what steps you take prior to potting in mame pots.

Re: My new SUPER MAME
Dear Robert,
Some of the members in my local bonsai club claims that Mame (also Shito and Keishi) is not used as a style/classification name anymore.
They claim that SHOHIN is used as a common name/category for all miniature bonsai trees (especially in Japan).
Is it true?
In other words, has Mame (or Shito and Keishi) category still been used in any contest in Japan or far east? Or just Shohin as a common category?
Thanks
Taner

Re: My new SUPER MAME
Thanks Pong and David. I started from the branch cutting from the mother-plant, trained in larger pot before potting into mini pot.
I don't know..who care anyway, and why should we follow the Japanese ? I can claim this as SUPER MINI BONSAI or you can call it MICRO BONSAI and wonder if ever done by the Japanese.

Re: My new SUPER MAME
Thank you Robert for posting such inspiring trees. I am lucky to have several Premnas and I am also working on Shohin size and Mame sizes. They are very fulfilling little trees. Keep us post it.
