Root-on-Rock on the Shenandoah River Empty Root-on-Rock on the Shenandoah River

This is a picture taken this past weekend by a geologist friend of mine. The trees (he thinks they are cedar) have been growing on a limestone piling that remains in the river as a support for a railroad bridge of the past.

The location is Harper's Ferry, West Virginia at the mouth of the Shenandoah River where it meets the Potomac.

I thought the picture was very unique...hope you enjoy it as I did.

A very modern form of "ishitzuki", a striking contrast to some experience of over-twisting branches into shapeless messy bundles Smile
